Before We Started

This one started as a total blank canvas. Just soil, tools, and potential.
The homeowners at Manor Crescent wanted to finally bring their back garden to life. The goal?
A clean new patio, fresh turf, and flower beds that added structure without feeling overdone.

It wasn’t a small job. Everything, and I mean everything, had to go through the house and kitchen extension.
10 tones of materials, soil, and waste shifted by hand, through narrow hallways and doorways.
No machinery shortcuts here.

The Plan

Because the garden was landlocked, access was tricky, but the soil was excellent.
Leveling was smooth, drainage wasn’t an issue, and the client was easygoing, trusting our vision and suggestions from start to finish.

We mapped out a design that felt open, balanced, and low-maintenance, perfect for relaxing, entertaining, and showing off a neat finish.

The plan included:

  • A 40m² porcelain patio for a modern, clean edge
  • A 60m² lawn of fresh turf for that classic lush look
  • Fresh flower bed borders to soften the edges and add life around the fencing

The Work

First step was to clear and level the space.
We dug out, barrowed, and prepped the base layer by hand, working carefully through the tight access route. Every load in and out went through the client’s kitchen extension. I know this is not ideal, but we made it happen without a single scuff.

Once the groundwork was ready, we laid down a solid sub-base and weed membrane for stability and longevity.
Then came the tiles , modern, and laser-straight. Each slab was laid with precision and jointed tight for that seamless finish.

After the patio came the turf. Rolled out perfectly level, trimmed clean along the new borders, and finished with bold mower stripes that make the whole garden stand out.

The weather played nice, a bit of sun, not too hot, no rain. Couldn’t have asked for better working conditions.

The Result

Now? The space feels completely different.
What was once a plain patch of soil is now a modern garden retreat, clean lines, bright greens, and the smooth tiles catching the light.

The clients were over the moon. They said it finally feels like a proper extension of their home. Somewhere they can open the doors and step right into a fresh, usable space.

Every detail was finished off, edges cut sharp, patio joints sealed, and beds ready for planting. It’s the kind of garden that makes you want to grab a drink, sit back, and enjoy the view.
